Chasin Hooley member Oliver was at primary school with Desmond and Brian and was one of Brians best friends.Oliver often talks about one competition where he and Brian were competing in a tin whistle event and Brian won.
We are forever grateful to Oliver for his haunting rendition of Fairy tale of New York at Brian's funeral
"Oliver Conlon from Eskragh, Dungannon started playing music at the age of six where he took a keen interest in the tin whistle. Throughout primary school he won many competitions in Dungannon Féis. As Oliver got older he learned the banjo and was introduced to the Fleadhs and won many competitions throughout Tyrone and Ulster in the 12-15 and 15-18 age groups. Playing the tin whistle and banjo during secondary school Oliver was asked to play in a new band in Tyrone called The Miracles.
Oliver played the tin whistle and saxophone for The Miracles and toured Ireland, Scotland and at the height of their success went as far a field as New York where they played on St Patrick’s Day. A few years ago Oliver decided to take a break from touring with The Miracles but he continued his musical career by playing in sessions and various concerts but he is back again with a bang playing in the new exciting Irish folk band Chasin Hooley"
