Feb 08 Photography Comp

The lovely Jen is hosting this months Phography Comp over on UKS

I am so chuffed that I made the top 20 in Jan that I am inspired to go again this month
amd the theme this month is fab!!

Capture that moment!!One of the greatest challenges in photography is exploring our environment and then creatively capturing that moment of beauty, whether it is a physical beauty or an emotional one. So this month’s challenge is to capture those moments!!Maybe it’s the beauty of nature in that sunset or flower, or maybe a manmade beauty in that awe inspiring building. Then there’s the emotional beauties, a loving embrace, excited children, happy expressions. Hopefully there are a few ideas there to get you thinking about beauty to capture through your camera.
Prompt 34
"You don't stop playing because you are old; you grow old because you stop playing. "

Making a St Brigid Cross

Some pics of the making of a cross

First pic is the rushes that are used

Feast of St Brigid

This is the feast of St Brigid
She stands for the 'Mother of life', similar to other cultures and religions, who adore female goddesses. Funny, that she, who refused to marry, got to be a symbol of fertility.People still create 'St.Brigid Crosses' to give them to children for protection or have them above doors of house and stable. Also graves are decorated with this cross.
We make one evey year and our son Brian had one in his room no matter where in the world he lived.
We now have a picture of one on his Headstone and will put one that DH has made on his grave later today. Will post a pic of the cross later
